Ever since my wife and I started talking about all of our baby shower ideas we’ve been having a constant and unyielding battle. She wants to go all out and decorate the entire place like its Shangri-La or something, and I’m trying to save money so that we can invest for the future. My wife is totally unrealistic when it comes to celebrations, which ironically is one of the reasons that I was initially attracted to her, but now that I’m paying the bills this whole thing has gotten out of hand. Last night we were talking about baby boy names and we got into a heated argument.

I don’t really know if I could keep going on with things as they are, because I’m starting to think about what our child is going to be like if they have to live in a home like this. We still haven’t found out if we’re going to have a girl or a boy, because we want to be surprised. I think this is way too impractical, because we can be using this time to get prepared. This morning we were talking about baby girl names and both of us are so far apart on even this issue that I decided to call my mom and ask her what I should do about the marriage altogether.
